First and foremost, I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday. Mine was just what I wanted 99% - quiet time with the wife. We had a very relaxing day after hearing some sad news.
The Godfather has gone home...
James Brown, the Godfather of Soul passed away early today. He was 73. Brown was hospitalized Sunday at Emory Crawford Long Hospital with pneumonia and died around 1:45 a.m. Monday.
To say that he will be missed is an understatement. James Brown was quite possibly the single most influential artist of all time. He has influenced R&B, Funk, Soul, and even Hip-Hop. The man was known as one of the hardest working people in show business. I can't believe the Godfather is gone...

caught a soundbite in all the news about his death...something to the effect he was a real black man. true to his roots. he was not 'pretty-ified' for the white audience. nor did his music bow to white influences. a true original. gotta respect that! and yeah, i grew up w/ his music too. quite a character, too. his music and his influence will live on.
Yes, heard the sad news about James brown as well.
He was a pure entertainer. His sound wasn't just soul, but all wrapped into one. He was unique.
And Michael Jackson certainly did steal the moonwalk from Brown.
